Tony & Linda Williams- Owners of Shardeloes Farm & The Equestrian Centre
Tony & Linda moved to Shardeloes Farm in 1990. In main they were motivated by a desire to find off-road hacking after a serious accident on the roads with a pony which they owned at the time. Tony, a former World Champion Powerboat racer and Entrepreneur brought his blue-sky thinking and ‘engineering’ skills into play by turning his hand to farming and developing the site. Linda, a horse-lover from age 4 started the livery yard with our very first livery – a horse called ‘Thingy’. Tony & Linda enjoy travelling to USA and skiing in France in their spare time.
Becca Fell- Yard Manager
Becca has been involved with horses since the age of six going on to gain an Equine Science Degree and working across Europe. Becca has worked with many prestigious names in the equine world including the Fox-Pitt family, Pammy Hutton, Nick Gauntlett, Paul Schockemohle and she was Head Girl at Martin Bosley Racing before joining us at the beginning of 2017. Due to Becca’s vast experience at high level yards she has an eye for detail and ensures excellent care for the horses while supporting her team to ensure we offer our clients the very best.
Tracy Lyon- Office Manager
Tracy came to join the team at Shardeloes over 7 years ago after bringing her children to learn to ride here, sharing ponies, then buying ponies and bringing them here, so she had a pretty good insight into the client side of the business before joining. Tracy comes from a customer service background having working in hotels, restaurants and bars as an assistant manager with three and half years spent working in a bank and five years working in a school as a learning support assistance. The best part of working at Shardeloes is watching the changing seasons through the cabin window!
Kate Jarvis - Instructor, BHSII Reg'd
Kate has been at Shardeloes since September 2003, she says her favourite things about being at Shardeloes are that “we have a good team and nice liveries and clients here and I have become very fond of the ponies and also the beautiful surroundings.” Kate holds her BHSII. Kate’s favourite equestrian discipline is dressage and she enjoys competing in affiliated competitions. In her spare time Kate can be found reading and listening to music.
Nancy Goodman - Instructor, BHS AI Int Teach and SM
Nancy qualified in 1973 and has been teaching horse riding ever since. Her last post was Chief Instructor in one of biggest London riding schools. Nancy used to regularly hunt with Foxhounds and Bloodhounds and Open Team Chase. Her main interest now is classical dressage and she is currently studying for a Diploma in Equipilates.
Kasia Iwaniuk – Instructor, BHSAI
Kasia started riding in Poland at the age of 10 years. She has worked in various riding schools in Poland, America and Denmark. Kasia moved to England in 2010 to join us at Shardeloes Farm and is currently working towards her BHS Stage 4 and ITT. In the future she is aiming to work in equine assisted therapy. In her spare time she enjoys hacking and schooling , she also loves travelling.
Carole Broad - Visiting Coach, FBHS Reg'd, UKCC Level 3
Carole visits Shardeloes once a month to train our students and liveries. Carole's extensive knowledge of training horses and coaching riders makes her very popular. She is the chairman of the BHS Training Committee and has a very long standing association with the BHS Examinations system. Carole teaches all riders, from novice to those taking the BHS Fellowship exam.
Annette Christy - Freelance Instructor, BHSI reg'd
Annette has been in the industry all her working life, which has taken her to Europe, The Middle and Far East and Australia. With a passion for continual development, Annette is always seeking to add new ideas and "tools to her box".
She is passionate about teaching and passing on her knowledge and gains as much pleasure teaching nervous / hobby riders as teaching experienced and competition riders. Annette says “I find it very fulfilling to help students and clients understand how their horse thinks and help them to achieve a harmonious connection.”
Angela Ridger - Freelance Instructor BHSII reg'd
Angela is a very experienced and popular instructor. She teaches our career students and clients. When she is not here she schools competition horses and ponies and competes in all disciplines.
Sharon Legg - Freelance Instructor, BHSAI reg'd
Sharon has been with us for over 12 years. She is a very experienced and sympathetic instructor. Many of our more nervous riders enjoy her quiet and reassuring manner in their lessons.
Rita Palinkas- Freelance Instructor, BHSAI
After leaving her supervisor position here at Shardeloes, Rita now stays on as one of our freelance instructors. She has worked at several yards, including for international competitors such as Lauren Shannon (4* Eventer) and Sarah Williams (Grand Prix Dressage rider) Rita has also done some stunt riding for film and television.
Charlotte Hulbert – Front Yard Supervisor, BHS stage 1, NVQ 2&3
Charlotte works to ensure the livery horses on front yard are happy and healthy. Charlotte started to ride when she was 3 years old, and has always been a very confident rider. She obtained her first horse when she was 10 and still has her to this day. William lives here at Shardeloes, he was backed by Charlotte when she was 15, Charlotte Likes to compete him when she gets the chance. Charlotte has her Stage 1, Riding & Road Safety, NVQ 2& 3 and is currently working towards her PTT. Charlotte has been at Shardeloes for more than 10 years.
Rachel Nelson- Livery Yard Supervisor, BHS Stage 1, Stage 2 Care
Rachel looks after the residents of Livery Barn while also helping with administrative duties in the office. Rachel learned to ride and care for horses from a young age, spending most of her childhood helping at a trekking centre in the Midlands. Rachel has passed her BHS Stage 1 and Stage 2 Care since being here and is currently working towards completing her Stage 2 as well as taking her Stage 3 Care within the year.
Sarah Lynch- Hydro Yard Supervisor, BHS Stage 2
Sarah looks after one of our largest yards and is known for her super work ethic! Sarah is a talented rider and exercises a lot of the horses on top of her supervising duties. Since starting at Shardeloes she has completed her BHS Stage 1, Ride and Road Safety, BHS Stage 2 Ride and is now working towards completing her Stage 2 Care so she can take her Stage 3 exam.
Anna Maatala- Riding School Supervisor
Anna joined us from Finland in 2016 and is currently working towards her BHS exams. Anna has good organisational skills and gets on well with her team ensuring the riding school lessons are running to time and the horses and ponies are cared for and well turned out.
Our Instructors and Supervisors would not be able to offer the services and training available without the fantastic and dedicated students and grooms that support them.
